Major cities in Japan have a variety of popular metropolitan tours. But, this is Ehime who has a unique picking tour of fresh strawberries.

Vacation to Japan feels very close to the luxurious metropolitan life. There are still a few who know, that Japan also has tired release attractions in Ehime Prefecture. Ehime Prefecture is an anti-mainstream province that is still closely linked to the village atmosphere. From here yuzu and strawberry oranges are marketed throughout Japan.

detikTravel with a group of media from Indonesia, at the invitation of Japan Airlines (JAL) and Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), visiting Ehime Prefecture. The best way to enjoy the produce of Ehime is to visit the garden directly.

Ehime itself has many plantations that travelers can visit. One of them is a strawberry picking tour at Akamatsu Farm.

This plantation is managed by Takuya Akamatsu along with his wife. Akamatsu farm itself has been established for 45 years. This plantation started strawberry picking business since 7 years ago. To be able to enjoy picking strawberries until satisfied, tourists will be charged JPY 1500 or around 189,634 per person. This garden opens its own picking tours starting from January to May, each year.

Akamatsu Farm has 8 buildings containing strawberry fields. At the beginning of February, there were 3 buildings containing strawberries ready for harvest. "What you need to know when picking strawberries is how to pick them. Do not pull them down, but the strawberries are reversed and pulled a little. Very easy," said Takuya.

The first type tasted by media groups from Indonesia was amaotome. This type is half red and white. Sweet and slightly fragrant, amaotome is Ehime's original strawberry. The form of amaotome has a form that tends to be large. Almost similar to the type of Red Cheek, the difference is there is no white on the top.

Besides amaotome and red cheek, Akamatsu Farm also has a red pearl type. Strawberries with this type are smaller and red. This is the most favorite type in Ehime and Japan. "Everyday, I am assisted by 11 part time employees and 4 permanent employees," explained Takuya.

In this garden, a traveler can eat strawberries until satisfied. Visitors will be given a plastic box to put strawberries. The garbage can be dumped directly in the city too. Besides being picked by yourself, you can also bring these strawberries home. Of course, there is an additional fee of JPY 160 per 100 grams, or around Rp 20,227.

Tourists will be left to pick strawberries until satisfied. Want to pick directly eat or want to be collected first, also may. Inside the building are chairs and tables for tourists who want to eat while relaxing. Every day, employees will check the building temperature and slaughter weeds. However, it will not disturb tourist visiting hours.

This plantation also sells strawberries at a cheaper price. Tourists can choose picking themselves or want the ones already packed. You can enjoy strawberries until you can enjoy it starting at 07.00-12 local time. When are you here?
